CME Group and China Foreign Exchange Trade System (CFETS), announced on Aug. 5 2015 that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). BATS Global Markets reported July data highlights, including record market share of 10.8% for its U.S. options business, surpassing the previous record of 9.9% set in April 2015. BATS set a one-day record of 2.47 million U.S. options contracts traded on July 24 and also set a one-day market share record of 11.8% on July 21. In July, BATS Options recorded eight of its top
10 days on record in terms of market share. In U.S. equities, BATS reported market share of 21.0% in July, up from 20.3% one year ago.

CME Group/FTSE Russell
CME Group and FTSE Russell announced that they have entered into a licensing agreement establishing CME Group as a global partner for futures, options on futures and OTC cleared products on FTSE Russell. CME Group will launch futures on the Russell 1000, Russell 1000 Growth and Russell 1000 Value, FTSE 100, FTSE Emerging Markets, FTSE Developed Europe and FTSE China 50 indexes by the end of Q4 2015. Russell 2000 futures will be listed by and subject to the rules of CME beginning Q3 2017.

President Barack Obama chose University of Michigan economist Kathryn Dominguez to fill the final open seat on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, adding an expert in international economics to the central bank’s leadership team. Dominguez, who is also a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, has a background in foreign exchange rates, emerging markets and international borrowing, the White House said.
